because we couldn't tell already...

"J'adore l'attention. Tous ceux qui disent qu'ils
n'aiment pas l'attention mentent. Si on ne l'a pas, on
meurt. Le premier cri des nouveau-nés, si on ne
l'entend pas, ils meurent."

- Marc Jacobs in the February Issue of Vogue Paris.

Galliano making dreams come true.

Am I the only one that was completely underwhelmed by couture? It just seemed like a more expensive version of RTW.

The only designer who delivered was Galliano. His quote about couture was awesome too. "..But it's our job to make people dream." Isn't that what couture about? Dreams and pretty pretty princesses? His collection felt like the waltz of the tea cups, which is COMPLETELY perfect for couture.

the devil's in the details

OH KANYE. It seems that once again, he has proved the existence of that oh-so-fine line between "dapper" (left) and "douchebag" (right), though to be fair, he does look relatively sane when compared to the rest of his crew. But Kanye-look-alike-dom aside, don't you wish that guy on the left was your uncle?

Jean Paul doesn't care about poor people

Don't get us wrong, we like Jean Paul Gaultier, but there was something... uncomfortable about this spring's couture collection. Maybe we watch too much CNN, but to us, JPG's homage to Wall St. bankers, 80's excess and money-prints seemed a bit too of the moment. With so many people losing their jobs and our tax money going to failing banks instead of being used for the arguably more practical purchase of Givenchy bondage heels, JPG's usual playful subversiveness felt more like a punch in the face. And although there were some really beautiful pieces, we can't figure out why anyone would want to look like a banker anyway- doesn't everybody hate them? So yeah, we know you think it's a joke M. Gaultier, but we're too busy crying into our mac-and-cheese to laugh. :-(

a brief introduction

Hi, we're S & M. We're 20-somethings who met while working on a fashion magazine at university and are now living in Japan and Switzerland, respectively. On this blog we plan to talk about the things we love and be unapologetically bitchy while doing so. We think it's funnier that way, but we're nice in real life, we promise.

love,
